A calmer way to
pick software
saas.afi is an independent marketplace for SaaS tools. We test products, write them up in plain language and keep every listing in the same format so you can compare instead of wading through twelve marketing sites.

Four rules we don't bend
No matter who is asking, these hold. It's the whole point of the project.
Independent by default
Nobody can pay to rank higher. Sponsorship buys visibility in clearly labelled slots — never a better position in the gallery or a softer write-up.
Comparable, not cherry-picked
Every product is described with the same fields: category, pricing model, trial terms and who it actually fits. Same shape, so you can scan instead of squint.
Honest about money
Some links are affiliate links. When they are, the price you pay is the same and the commission has zero effect on whether a product gets listed.
Hands on the product
We sign up, poke at the onboarding, hit the pricing wall and read the docs before writing a single line of a listing.
How a product gets listed
The same four-step path for every tool, from first mention to a live listing.
Step one
Shortlist
We track launches, community threads and reader requests, then shortlist the tools people are genuinely trying to choose between.
Step two
Hands-on trial
Free plan or trial, real data, real workflow. We note where onboarding drags, where the paywall lands and what breaks at scale.
Step three
Normalise the facts
Pricing, billing model, trial length and category get recorded the same way for every product so comparisons are apples to apples.
Step four
Publish and revisit
Listings go live with a plain-language summary and get re-checked whenever pricing or positioning changes.
The unglamorous part
Most of our week goes into trialling new tools, re-checking pricing pages, rewriting listings that have gone stale and pruning products that stopped shipping. Every category gets a full sweep on a rolling schedule.
The rest is building the comparison layer — normalising plans, seats and usage limits so two tools can be read side by side, and expanding into the categories readers keep asking for. Listings stay free, and requests from readers shape what we cover next.
